Dr. Jenny Wong
Dr. Richard Ahlfeld
Dr. Jenny Wong was born and raised in San Francisco. She holds pre-doctoral degrees in Physiology, Business, and has completed studies in Early Childhood Development & Education. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at University of California, San Francisco in 1995. Dr. Wong began working in dental offices at the age of 16. Her experiences include providing dental care for post oncology patients, working with underprivileged children, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Wong has participated in programs promoting health education and science in SF elementary schools. She joined Dr. Katz’s practice in 2001. As a mother, she understands the challenges of guiding a child to establish healthy habits. Dr. Wong feels fortunate to have the opportunity to help families learn how to maintain healthy lives through their dental health.
In her spare time, Dr. Wong enjoys playing guitar and exploring the Bay Area with her son, husband, and two dogs.
Member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Ahlfeld came to San Francisco in 1973. He grew up in Florida and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1968 from the University of Maryland, the nation’s first dental school. After practicing General Dentistry in the United States Army and privately for several years he realized that treating children was his calling. After two years of additional study at the University of California, San Francisco, graduated with a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 1978.
Dr. Ahlfeld practiced privately until 1983, when he began teaching Pediatric Dentistry full-time at the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry in San Francisco. As a Professor, he was active in promoting dental and other health initiatives in San Francisco. He retired as an Associate Professor in 1998. In that same year, Dr. Ahlfeld joined his long-time friend, Dr. Raymond Katz in private practice in San Francisco.
Besides his forty+ years of practicing and teaching Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Ahlfeld has pursued his long time interests in sports (Go Giants!) and photography and still has his first camera, a 1950 Brownie Bullet.
Dr. Ahlfeld is now enjoying watching his family grow and flourish in the Bay Area and spends much of his free time with his wife, daughter and two young grandsons, shuttling between the Bay Area and a second home near Mount Shasta.
Lifetime Member- American Dental Association
Dr. Miyon Young
From an early age Dr. Miyon Young had a desire to be a dentist. She obtained her B.S. in Biochemistry at UC Davis. Dr. Young then received her DDS from UC San Francisco. While in private practice, Dr. Young found that she enjoyed dentistry most when she treated children. Their fresh outlook on life was energizing, this motivated her to complete a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Young is board-certified with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Miyon Young lives in San Mateo. She has two little children of her own, a boy and a girl. They help her understand on a deeper level not only her pediatric patients, but her patients' parents as well. Her children have taught her how hard it can be to brush their children regularly after a long day, and how it can eventually be achieved. Dr. Young enjoys her time with her children and volunteers at their school on the days she is not in the office.
Dr Rebecca Hsieh
Dr. Rebecca Hsieh was born and raised in Taiwan. She pursed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She went on to obtain her Master of Public Health degree at Columbia University, and Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). While at UCSF, Dr. Hsieh discovered her love for pediatric dentistry during dental mission trips in Honduras and Mexico. Her love for pediatrics continued to grow through interactions with children at the ASDA community outreach events and on her rotations at a Community Health Center in Alameda. She later completed her pediatric dental specialty training at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Outside of work, Rebecca loves to travel, work out, and explore the outdoors.
Dr. Raymond Katz
Dr. Raymond Katz was raised in Massachusetts. He graduated from Tufts School of Dental Medicine in 1971. Dr. Katz taught public health at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr Katz relocated to the west coast in 1976, finishing a 2-year residency at Children's Hospital in Oakland. He joined the faculty at University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. In 1982, he joined the teaching faculty at Mt Zion .In 1989, Dr. Katz began his private practice in San Francisco and Mill Valley. Dr. Katz has a passion for music and he enjoys hiking the coast and headlands with his wife and son. Dentistry was one of the psychological traumas of Dr. Katz's youth, he feels it allows him to be able to treat children with more compassion and understanding. Dr Katz has always believed that the real calling of his profession is what he learns from children about life on a daily basis.
